I have to admit that I’ve become a bit obsessed with camping crafts recently. I think it’s mainly down to the fact that it’s actually stopped raining for once (pretty much a miracle here in Cornwall) so I’ve been hunting out some new campsites to try out and the kids are all excited about going out camping again and camping crafts? Well they’re the natural progression for me. Thinking about tents and campfires and toasting marshmallows and while we wait for that doing a few easy camping crafts! This foil painted campfire craft is super simple so that even young kids can join in on the fun and excitement.
Painting with foil is great for even young kids as you can make it into the right size for them to hold and of course they can squeeze it to make it a bit easier! This campfire craft is one of our favourites but if you’d like some more inspiration for fun camping crafts and activities then make sure you check out the links at the end of this post for more inspiration.

To make this easy craft you’ll need some white paper or cardstock – I prefer the card as it seems to cope better with the large amount of paint – not getting flimsy like paper can but obviously go with whatever you can find. Pop some yellow and red paint onto a plate. You can use orange as well but I quite like to use this as an excuse to talk about colour mixing (plus I’m trying to cut down on the crazy amount of craft supplies we had!)
Cut out two rectangles out of brown card or paper to act as the wood and stick these down on to your card. Brown packaging paper or the inside of a cereal box would work well for this. Finally screw up your foil into a ball and then dip it into your red and yellow paints and onto your picture to paint your campfire flames.
