I chose eBay, Instagram and Facebook marketplace, right? Because everybody is most familiar with those and they are probably the most intuitive.

⚠️ It’s very important to note right now that eBay offers protection for both sellers and buyers in case of a dispute, and when you are selling technology that is worth more than £30… you don’t want any disputes. So this is the best way to protect both of you (yourself and your customer).

Pro Tips For Taking Great Photos For The giffgaff Get Recycling In A Week Challenge!

Before you take photos of your items, I want you to know the difference between low key images and high-key images. By the way, I have a BA degree in Photography & Creative Design and owned a portrait studio for a time, so I know my onions.

The high key images, the bright ones, are going to be the easiest for you to recreate at home.

If you’ve got access to like white bedding, like a white sheet and window, not in, not more space than if you’re in the UK and use any of these background ideas.

The sheet will be used as like a reflector background and another kind of background for you to set images against.

Photography Backdrop Ideas:

  • Light (white is the only one that will reflect light back to reduce shadows) Bedding
  • Trays
  • Wooden Boards
  • Table Tops
  • Napkins, Tablecloths, Curtains
  • Painted Boards (you can buy mdf boards like these)
  • Ring Binders (for small items)
  • Large hardback books with paper cover removed (usually have plain covers on the inside)

High Key Photography Set up

The wiggly line that appears in the video amid my photo set up shows where my window is located but the image above shows how you should set up your space.

Remember To Be Detailed About Your Item

I’m making sure that I’m taking photographs of the item I’m about to list for sale from every single angle. I make sure I photograph every detail, if there’s any Nicks or any damage at all. I’m also incredibly honest with my listings, because you would be surprised people will let a couple of nicks and scratches slide if it’s something that they really want.

And as long as you’re honest, then you’ll have no problems with your listing.

You want to make sure that customer satisfaction is really important here, because even though you’re just recycling, you’re also trying to make money, get good feedback on eBay (you get access to discounts in sale listing fees from time to time the better your feedback is) and very importantly you want your customer to have a good experience.

My Version Of The giffgaff Get Recycling In A Week Challenge

I am going to list items for sale on eBay. I am going to list my old phone. I’m not going to list this radio because it’s too beautiful to give away. It was just perfect for displaying in this video.

I used a three white boards; 2 that I got from a stationery store, and are known as artists mounting board (A1 or A0 size) and 1 is a painted board from a Hardware shop.

I also have to point out that at this stage it doesn’t matter if the images are quite gray because you can easily edit them and you don’t need an extra app, right?

How To Edit Photographs In iOs or Android

You just go in, if you’re using iOS or Android, you can just hit edit, and arrange of filters are going to be available for you. And you will be able to adjust the brightness, et cetera.

⚠️ Something that’s really important is that you should never adjust the image or the colors so much. It doesn’t look exactly like it is in real life. Again, with the customer satisfaction, you don’t want them receiving something completely different, do you?
